From the moment you arrive in Nairobi’s Wilson Airport and you enter our private passenger terminal, the adventure has already begun.
A seamless check-in and a spacious lounge area is just the start, as you prepare to board one of our private aircraft on your way to some of the finest African holiday destinations.
Once you’ve boarded, our friendly pilot and their team will ensure your comfort and safety, while offering their years of insight on how to take full advantage of your safari and the unforgettable landscapes you’ll be visiting. Upon lift-off, you’ll be able to see Nairobi National Park, as one of Africa’s most prosperous cities fades into the distance. Hundreds of meters above one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations, you and your small cohort of passengers are a short flight away from your designated airstrip, already able to see some of Kenya’s spectacular wildlife on your descent.

In 1975, Airkenya Ltd, operated 4 aircraft: two Piper Navajo (capacity: 7 passengers) and two Beechcraft 55 (capacity: 5 passengers). In 1985, ten years later, Airkenya Ltd merged operations with Sunbird Aviation LTD. The two Companies had a mixed fleet of about seventeen aircraft. Sunbird had two DC3s, one C 404, two C 402s, 3 P 68 (Partenavia), two Piper Aztec, one King Air B 200) and two B 55 (Beech Barons).
Ten years later, in 1997, Airkenya Aviation LTD expanded its business into Tanzania, which resulted in the launch of a sister company, Regional Air (Tanzania), with operations headquartered in Arusha Airport.
April 2006 and was assigned IATA code (P2), ICAO code (XAK) and a Sun Express call sign for its domestic and regional flights.
In 2012, Airkenya Express LTD launched a sister company, AeroLink UG LTD, based at Entebbe International Airport.
Our History
Since the mid-1970s, AirKenya established itself as a trendsetter by being the first airline to fly into the Maasai Mara and the first to recruit Kenya’s talented female pilots.
